Internship Progam

After three years, our two Report for America positions ended in June. We were fortunate to have Claire Potter and Frances Mize split time as reporters, while photojournalist Alex Driehaus, who worked all three years, has transitioned into a staff position. Unfortunately, Report for America has lost funding and is placing fewer journalists in newsrooms. While we plan to apply for positions in the future, the prospect of landing positions is uncertain.

As a result, we are launching a philanthropically funded internship program. Our goal is to hire a news reporter and a sports reporter for six-12 month periods. Our first news reporter intern, Emma Roth-Wells, a recent graduate of Mount Holyoke College started this week. We are asking readers to help us raise $90,000 to cover the internship program costs for the next 12 months. If you would like to support this program you can donate by mailing a check to Valley News, Attn: Internship, PO Box 877, White River Junction, VT 05001-0877 or by visiting vnews.com to donate by credit card. The Valley News is not a non-profit, so contributions are not tax deductible.
