Kathy Beltrami is a lifelong reader of the Concord Monitor, purchased almost daily at the local convenience store. She lived most of her life in Pittsfield. and is a nurse practicing the last 10+ years in women’s health. Kathy is an active grandmother assisting with transportation of young actresses, dancers, Ninja brown belts, gymnasts, and all-season sport participants to their extra curricular activities. She volunteers as a “cuddler” at Eliot Hospital where she receives a greater mental benefit than the infants. Her main interest is to be part of a nurturing and supportive village.
Berit recently moved to the Concord area from Minnesota for a taste of small-town life, sharing the coziness with her boyfriend and cat, Otis. You can often find her baking tasty treats, curling up with a good book, or exploring vintage treasures. As the Events & Marketing Manager at Intown Concord, you'll spot Berit strolling around, documenting events, and bringing attention to the unique stories of local businesses. Berit loves connecting with places through community and has felt incredibly welcomed in Concord.
When she was 8, Ann Davis sold her first article to the Chronicle of the Horse, a weekly equestrian magazine. She was hooked, and has been writing for publication ever since. She spent her formative years in Maryland, outside Washington, D.C. During her professional career, Davis was an award-winning journalist for various weekly and daily newspapers. Then she spent 10 years managing a 55-unit apartment building in Chicago. In 2003, Davis and her husband Marc retired and moved to Wilmot. She is the manager and co-owner of the Woods Without Gile, a 500-acre woodlot in Springfield. This property was the 2022 N.H. Tree Farm of the Year. Davis is president emeritus of the board of the Wilmot Community Association, president of the North Wilmot Union Meeting House Society and is a member of the N.H. Graham Gifford’s diverse background is what sets her apart from the typical marketing world. A self-taught graphic designer, Graham has produced products for Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma, HomeGoods and QVC. Today, Graham is the Interim Executive Director and Program Director at the New Hampshire Telephone Museum. She is the founder of a consulting agency that serves small businesses around the country who want to get organized, save time and make more money.
A retired second grade teacher from the Merrimack Valley School District, Kathryn has the magical opportunity to live twice in her beloved home on Abbott Road in Penacook. It was built by the Merrimack Valley HS Trades Dept. in 1976. She's an active swim member of the YMCA and hospitality queen at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Concord. She co-chairs the Backpack Program that feeds MVSD children over the school year weekends. An OLLI learner and class assistant, she enjoys playing MahJongg at the Community Center. She was founder and past president of the Penacook Village Association. Through them, and by chairing the MV Safe Routes to Schools Committee, she helped the Village of Penacook develop a sense of community and identity. She's cherished reading the Concord Monitor for over forty years. The Sunday Monitor used to be found at the General Store at Long Sands, York Beach, Maine, her happy place. Early mornings are her favorite time of day, and she loves reading the paper with her first cup of coffee.
Susan is a life-long resident of Concord, other than time away during college. Married with three grown children, she is lucky that they all live locally. She's in year 28 of teaching at Winnisquam Regional Middle School. This year she's teaching sixth grade reading and math. In her free time (ha!) Susan enjoys knitting, needle-felting, reading (mostly historical fiction) and volunteering.
Wendy Lapham is a resident of the downtown Concord area and is a supporter and member of many cultural, historic, conservation and arts organizations in the city. She and her dog, Ziggy, regularly explore Concord’s excellent parks and trails in all seasons. She has worked for American Red Cross of NH and VT and currently works for Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. In 2022, she completed the Leadership Greater Concord Program hosted by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the Capital Area Student Leadership Program committee. She has also been a volunteer for the Lakes Region Disabled Sports program, The New Road Project, Intown Concord, and Concord Friends Meeting. She will openly admit that she loves winter, especially skiing in the New Hampshire mountains, and is also an avid reader, writer, and cook.
Jessica J. Geiben Lynn, M.A.L.D, CEC, CFBA, is a strategy, governance and organizational development consultant. She is currently a senior consultant at Dartmouth Health, and works for a small number of private clients through her consulting business. Jessica has over two decades of experience working with leaders at academic health centers, owner and family led businesses, foundations, and with boards of directors of non-profit and owner/founder led organizations. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Wheaton College, MA, and a Master of Law and Diplomacy (M.A.L.D.) from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. She has lived in Uzbekistan, Russia and Hungary, and speaks conversational German and Russian. She has trained in the Evidence Based Executive Leadership Coaching program at the Fielding Institute, at the Systems-Center Training and Research Institute, and is an International Coaching Federation-certified Executive Coach (CEC). Jessica is also certified in the Hogan Suite, DiSC, and in Predictive Index, and is a Certified Family Business Advisor (CFBA). Jessica served as Chair of the Capital Area Regional Advisory Board of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, and is a past Co-Chair of the Board of Circle Program. She is a member of BoardSource, the National Center for Family Philanthropy, and Bow (NH) Open Spaces, among others. She is an avid pickle-ball player and Pilates aficionado, and has coached her daughters’ basketball and softball teams.
Pete grew up in a small Western Massachusetts town, graduating from Holy Cross in 1975 and Boston College Law School three years later. He was hired by then NH Attorney General David Souter to join the Criminal Division where he prosecuted criminal cases, and argued appeals before the NH Supreme Court. By 1986 he had been Criminal Division Chief, Deputy Attorney General and Acting Attorney General. He spent the next 35 years representing clients throughout New England in almost every type of litigation before administrative agencies and juries. His free time activities were varied and included being a library trustee, serving on charitable boards, building furniture, gardening, biking and hiking, starting a youth lacrosse program, coaching youth sports and attending film festivals. His reading interests included American History, politics and fiction. He and his wife Mary moved to Concord six years ago, and although he recently retired Mary still works full time. They have five adult children and two grandchildren-all on the East Coast which allows frequent visits and babysitting!
Eric Orff has been a conservation and wildlife biologist in New Hampshire for 50 years. Throughout his career, he has shared his knowledge and insights about the Granite State's fish and wildlife. To encourage us to be aware of and observe nature around us, Eric has been able to give details of what is happening right now and to forecast what will be happening in the next few weeks. Nick is a 76 year old semi-retired general surgeon having lived in Concord for 35 years. He no longer operates but still teaches surgery 3 days a week to medical students and residents from Dartmouth, both in Lebanon/Hanover and Concord. He and his wife Ruth have 3 children and 5 grandchildren, all in Boston, MA and Washington DC. Nick worked for 17 years until 2019 in various positions with the NH Board of Medicine The last 5 years as their physician investigator overlooking the Medical Review Subcommittees of the Board. He's also served in the past on the Board of the Concord Community Music School, Granite State VNA (formally Concord VNA), and the Humanities Council. He's a member of Kent Street Coalition and is on their Health Care Committee. Over the last several years he's written multiple LTE’s and My Turn columns in the Monitor, mostly about local and national medical issues, but at times political issues related to medicine and public health. He also likes to hike and play the Highland bagpipes (poorly). He's been a subscriber to the Monitor the whole 35 years and feel that here in New Hampshire we are very fortunate to have such a high quality daily newspaper.
